PDJ quote on Reformed Charismatics

Speaking of someone who said they were a 'Reformed Charismatic' because they followed the Reformed theology of Calvin and while seeking to have passionately emotional faith.

That is a ridiculous confusion of categories. It is an insult both to the passionate zeal of Reformed theology and an insult to the Charismatic movement which is much, much more than sheer emotionalism. That type of fuzzy thinking is going to help nobody.

Here.

Maybe it's the sort of stereotypical mainstream protestant church, which is being imagined with an organ and choir and everyone sitting down...

Calvin had zeal in the wrong way. The Pope is the successor of Peter and the infallible authority over the church.

God Bless,

If you're taking the words in their technical sense then PDJ's point stands.

But Calvin's deep and warm spirituality is not what the word Reformed communicates today. And Charismatic can also be shorthand for passion for God and his glory.

If there's a fight that's worth having over Reformed Charismaticism, it doesn't seem to me to be in the name.
